# Settings and audit

> Configure school profile, roles, approval processes, admissions defaults, and activity logs.

Settings control how the school appears, who can do what, and how sensitive
workflows are reviewed.

## School profile

Keep school name, contact details, address, logo, and related profile fields
current. These can appear on admission forms, invoices, student-facing pages, and
messages.

## Roles and access

Roles decide which pages and actions a user can use. Assign the smallest role that
fits the user's job. If someone needs mixed responsibilities, adjust access on that
account instead of creating duplicate accounts.

## Approval processes

Use approval processes when work needs review before it becomes official.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose the workflow">
    Decide what needs review, such as grade submissions or grade amendments.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Define steps">
    Add one or more review steps in the order they should happen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Assign reviewers">
    Choose roles or users who can approve, reject, or return work at each step.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test with a small case">
    Run one submission through the process before using it school-wide.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Admissions settings

Use admissions settings for defaults such as document requirements, student number
templates, and institutional email behavior.

## Activity logs

Use activity logs when you need to answer who changed a record, when a workflow
moved, or which admin performed an action.

<Warning>
  Role, approval, and admissions-setting changes can affect many users. Review the
  change before saving, especially during an active admission or grading period.
